Please join us in the Bookshop and meet British documentary photography legend John Walmsley who will be available for a chat, and to sign copies of his publications by Caferoyalbooks.
4 titles will be available: Sit-in Guildford School of Art 1968 (Walmsley was a final year student and took part and photographed the longest ever sit-in at a British educational institution), Architectural Association School of Architecture 1975, where Walmsley lectured in the 1970s, Summerhill School 1968 - an Art School project which was later published by Penguin as part of their Education Specials, and, published most recently, Grosvenor Square Anti Vietnam War Demo 17/03/1968 ( his photograph of Vanessa Redgrave and Tariq Ali has become quite iconic since).
Our event will be held exactly on the 50th anniversary of the day of the Demo on Grosvenor Sqaure!
Sat 17 March, 14.00 - 17.00, Bookshop
Free event, no Booking.
Guildford Museum and Guildford House Gallery will also show John Walmsley's work on the 1968 sit-in on the occasion of its 50th anniversary later on this spring.
