In Die Toten (The Dead), Feldmann presents newspaper images he collected of 87 people who died and 3 who are “missing” as a result of the terrorist violence and state reaction between 1967 and 1993 - referencing “Student Movement, APO, Baader Meinhof, June 2nd Movement, Revolutionary Cell, RAF…”. The softcover book was published by Feldmann Verlag in 1998 and compiles – in pictures culled from printed matter of the period – the violent deaths of almost 100 people between 1967 and 1993. Deaths that resulted from the escalation of violence in Germany following the murder of student Benno Ohnesorg in 1967 and ended with the deaths of police officer Michael Newrzella and RAF member Wolfgang Grams in 1993. This rare and sought-after artists’ book documents the often underestimated death toll of a radical and violent period in recent German history.

A very rare, out of print title, as featured in Martin Parr & Gerry Badger's compendium, The Photobook: A History Vol.2.

All texts are in German.
