Kikuji Kawada: Chizu (The Map) (Signed limited edition)

Originally published in 1965 Chizu (The Map) is incredibly rare and one of the most collectable photo books.

This experimental book tracked the stains scattered across the walls of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial and projects memories of the second world war through young Japanese soldiers portraits and letters. At the same time the images of discarded Lucky Strike boxes, Coca Cola bottles and other detritus document the transformation of the post war recovery.

This 2014 edition from Akio Nagasawa in Tokyo faithfully reproduces the original design and layout with all photos as double page spreads printed in deep black.
