Mathieu Chaze: Rock, Paper, Scissors (signed)
“Rock, Paper, Scissors” is Mathieu Chaze's first book.
It is a story about love and competition between two brothers growing side by side in the English countryside. Making this book, Mathieu wanted to try and slow down and immortalise this precious time with his boys, while exploring the universal themes of family bonds, the passing of time and our relationship with nature.
Mathieu writes: “One morning, walking behind you through the misty lanes of our local woods, I had a sudden realisation. For the first time in my life, I remembered being your age and my dad mine. Days were fast turning into months and into years. How much longer would you remain little and we be at the centre of your world?”
He says about the book: “This is the most important thing I have ever done. A letter to my sons. Three years ago, I left my corporate job for my calling, camera in hand. I had to show Ed and Hugo it could be done. That you can create something meaningful out of passion and love. I had to tell them that I loved them. That life was beautiful but temporary - as we were sadly reminded when their grandad passed away during the making of this book. That they needed to pursue their dream. That their relationship was special. That they needed to seek beauty and grace in everything, starting with nature.”
