Martin Parr: British Food

This is the rare exhibition catalogue published to coincide with the 1995 exhibition, British Food, at Galerie du Jour in Paris. Contrasting with the Instagramable food culture prevalent today, saturated, close-up, ring-flashed images of everyday British cuisine invite the public to take a close look at what they eat. British Food is the beginning of Parr’s fascination with food as a way to explore social issues and identity, and showcases the early stages that defined both Parr’s unique style and this genre of photography.
