The photographs in Laura Hynd’s new monograph The Women Of Woodcock were shot behind the scenes and on set of Paul Thomas Anderson’s Oscar nominated film Phantom Thread, which will be released in the UK on 2 Feb.
Originally brought into the project to document the workings of the costume department, Laura and her medium format camera slowly gained Paul’s trust and she gracefully joined his world. Moving fluidly back and forth between costume fittings, the set, epic crowd scenes, extras holding and classic portrait sessions, Laura captured this fictional couture house from every angle, blurring the line between reportage and art.
Laura Hynd will be presenting The Women of Woodcock in our Bookshop on Thu 1 Feb from 18.00.
Free event, no Booking required.
The Women of Woodcock is published by August Editions a New York based publisher specialised in Visual Culture.
