Please join us and meet photographer and New Yorker Vivienne Gucwa who is presenting her new photobook NY in the Snow: A Magical Vision of New York City, published by Ilex .
"At first a few flakes will fall, then more, and more. Hardened New Yorkers rush for warmth and, while they're absent, an amazing, glistening, almost deserted winter wonderland appears..."
It is these moments that Vivienne, a native New Yorker, lives for. She has been documenting them since 2010, rushing out to capture the city in snow—mostly at night, highlighting the isolation and loneliness of being one of eight million people. She would often walk seven or eight miles a night in brutal condition, just to capture each storm’s unique personality. Of all the photos that have made her the celebrated, award-winning success that she is, it is these that are most loved, both online and in print.
