Did you spot the Gorilla? is a new book by Sigune Hamann published by the Everyday Press with an essay by Helen Sloan Engagement and Omission in Sigune Hamann’s work.
The publication marks Sigune Hamann’s residency in Experimental Psychology Oxford University where she worked with neuroscientist Kia Nobre on perception and attention. The exhibition Did you spot the Gorilla at the Barn Gallery St John’s Oxford was curated by Gill Hedley. The interventions Upside Down and Face to Face at the Ashmolean Museum was devised with curator Jim Harris and neuroscientist Chrystalina Antoniades. The publication is designed by Margherita Sabbioneda.

Sigune Hamann is an artist and Reader in Art and Media Practice at Camberwell College of Arts and Chelsea College of Art and Design.

The title Did you spot the Gorilla derived from the video experiment by psychologist Christopher Chabris and Daniel Simons that tests our ability to observe an unexpected event while focusing on an observational task (1999).
